Our society will sooner or later adapt to a warmer climate by experiencing and witnessing more frequent and extreme floods. However, this learning through experience is associated with much suffering. Precautionary climate protection measures are better. These not only reduce natural risks, but also have many positive side effects, so-called co-benefits. They make cities greener, healthier, more colorful, more quite, more just, and more livable.

In this project, we are paving new ways in science communication with the means of art. In contrast to the constant negative reports on climate change in the media, we want to focus on the positive aspects of climate protection measures and visions of livable futures. Scientists and artists experiment with artistic installations, literature, musical and theatrical performances on the positive effects of climate protection measures on the quality of life.

The project “Science-art-performances: Making co-benefits of climate mitigation measures visible and tangible” is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Co-benefits of climate mitigation measures

Making flood risk change and co-benefits of climate mitigation measures experienceable with science-art performances
